Laptop Advice.

Hi :)

Complete technophobe here. I run a brick and mortar gym so use my laptop around the clock. It spends a lot of time in my laptop bag to and from work.

The primary function is the internet, google docs, the odd photoshop here and there and some video editing(mostly voiceover presentations etc) - nothing too demanding.

For leisure, I use it for Football Manager (2020) but am known to spend a couple of hours here and there on games such as Hearts of Iron, Civ V, Cities: Skyline...

Currently using an Asus FX503 which does a job but it's suddenly starting to need more and more maintenance (screen keeps flickering etc) so the plan is to give this to my staff and treat myself.

Budget wise probably looking at £1,000-£1,300.

Any tips or advice would be welcome. Like I said, complete technophobe so no idea what I'm looking for but I never treat myself so would like to get this right.

Thank you.

Sorry, not sure how we missed this.

This would max your budget, but given your uses I wouldn't want to go lower than this. It's got a Ryzen processor, so good for FM, but absolutely destroys anything Intel when it comes to video editing or photoshop. Plus the GPU is an RTX card which willl again help with photoshop.

But it would be a great all rounder for the other games you mention as well.

I've had this laptop a few months now - I love it.

I was just wondering, what are my options with upgrades?

You can't upgrade GPU or CPU, but you can upgrade drives and RAM as you like.

Ah okay, so it's not possible to upgrade the NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2060 for better gaming performance? :)

My gym has been forced to close again, so I have some free time on my hands.

And am I right to assume that if I'm not really reaching the driver and RAM ceiling - there isn't much point in upgrading them?
