Laptop Crashed - Now Won't ReBoot

Hi

I need some advice please.

I was playing a game on my laptop, which I got from PCS a few months ago, when the game suddenly crashed. I couldn't CTRL ALT DEL out of it and so had to do a hard reset, i.e., hold down the power button. The laptop turned off.

However, when I boot it backup all I get is this:

insertbootmedia.jpg

When I go into the BIOS all I see on the boot sequence is this:

bootpriority.jpg

There doesn't appear to be any drives in the sequence.

I have tried inserting the Windows disc that came with the laptop and reboot. I can hear the (external) disk drive boot up but then I get the same error that is in my first picture.

What's happened? What do I do?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Laptop specs in signature.

What happens when you press enter on the network controller under "Boot option #1"? Do you get a list of options or nothing at all? What is under UEFI?

Myrm if you reinsert the contents you took out of your initial post, we may be able to help, but since you deleted the contents, we can't help at all :(

Thanks Scooster. Don't worry though, just been speaking to a support guy at PCS who went through a few things with me. It would seem it's a rare situation of a SSD drive breaking. He is sending me a new one by courier for Friday.

Glad I have all my files saved. :)

Rakk. Not to worry (see above). I meant to edit the second post of mine but accidentally edited the first :(

That doesn't really explain why the DVD drive isn't showing in the boot options.

I have replaced the original post for those who are interested.

I mentioned to the support guy about the external disc drive not showing and he said i might need to turn off the UEFI boot. He's emailed me some instructions.

Uefi is a pain at the best of times, always worth turning it off

Hi

I just realised I had never updated this thread. My new SSD arrived within two days (would have been the next day but it was too late in the day for next day delivery), and it was so simple to install and set up.

I just wanted to say thank you to PC Specilaist for the awesome support service you provided me. What I really liked was when I made my initial call the agent immediately made me feel that he was listening to my proplem and really cared. I also like how it wasn't a chore for me to get a replacement. Once I had carried out a few simple instructions given me by the agent, he, without any quibble, told me a replacement would be arranged immediately, and indeed it was. This is really good service. So if anybody from PCS is reading this:

Thank you for the fantastic and speedy customer support service you provided me.
