Hi, I've been having this issue and I'm wondering if anyone knows a solution. Every now and then I leave the laptop just idling for a while, maybe an hour or two, and when I return I get surprised by how hot the laptop is. The first time this happened it literally hurt my hand to place it on the keyboard and I could smell hot plastic from the vents. The power light indicated that the laptop was perhaps in sleep mode but I was unable to turn it back on so I had to force power it down (this is a seperate issue with the laptop where it sometimes goes to sleep(?) and then is unable to wake up again).
This has happened on two occasions so far, the first time the charger was plugged in and battery at 100%, the second occasion the charger was unplugged. So I don't think its an issue with the charger. I suspect what contributed to the overheating was that the fans weren't on at all. The fans usually stay on all the time during use, and then come on every now and then during sleep mode. But here they were completely off. Maybe when the laptop falls asleep sometimes the fans stop working or something? I've never encountered overheating like this before with another device.
