I will be using for the following (in order of amount):
Photoshopping
Playing movies (hence the 17", but also because the 17" takes 2 SATA)
Music & browsing interwebs
Microsoft Office
Occasional bit of gaming
Storing a lot of music/photos/videos (hence the SSD for OS & programs and seperate HD for files)

Just wanted to check that with this budget I'm not shooting myself in the foot with anything. My theory is if I play anything down it should be the RAM as I can always just get another 8GB stick to plug in if need be (or am I stupid for thinking it's that simple?) Having a capable graphics card for when I do game is fairly important as I want to be able to enjoy it when I do do it.

Looks good, you could consider Kingston SSD instead. You also have the choice of upgrading the warranty from silver to gold 3 months before it expires (in 9 months time) so you could just stick to silver for now and upgrade other bits instead

Thanks Keynes.

Do you know if there is much difference in performance? I honestly just went for the Samsung as it had the extra 10GB, and showed as having better speed specs. Good idea about the warranty, didn't know you could do that....
