Laptop testing

I was just wondering peoples thoughts on doing the following tests and if you think it's worthwhile to do if you've no reason to suspect anything is wrong.

cpu stress test with prime95,
graphics stress test with furmark,
graphics performance test with 3dMark,
Temp monitoring with speccy or hwmonitor both idle and gaming, memory test with memtest.

You mean with a brand new laptop you've received / when you receive it (presumably the Defiance III you recently ordered?)

I would. It costs nothing but a bit of time and makes sure everything is fine, nothing happened in transit, etc. Obviously the likelihood of any fault is very slim, but giving it a check isn't a bad idea as the stress tests may reveal any issues that gaming doesn't.

I think that gsync can cause lower 3dmark scores so you may want to disable gsync when you do that

Yes that was what I meant, apologies for not being clearer.
I'm currently trying to compile a list of "what to do now" for when the Defiance arrives.

I can't think of much else I'd do tbh (not counting checking the laptop physically, making sure all USB ports, card readers, video outputs are working and so forth).

Crystal Disk Mark and Crystal Disk Info to get an ego boost on my NVMe drive and to check the status of the drives respectively.

If you want a super customisable on screen display of stats including load for the CPU broken down by thread (rather than just the core as many seem to), HWinfo + Rivatuner statistics server is very good. http://www.overclock.net/a/how-to-use-rivatuner-afterburner-on-screen-display-and-more

Ungine Valley is a pleasant overall gaming performance bench to run.

I would personally not stress test the system unless you overclock it. I usually do the following:
3Dmark or Unigine to test performance, set a GPU profile with V/Gsync off on base and save it for reference. Monitor the temps throughout. If you do a lot of CPU heavy work you may wish to use something else.
Memtest/Disktest (speed )
I do it every two months to ensure everything is peachy (at the same time when I clean mine).
