Lead times

Morning all,

Ok so i placed the order for my laptop last week. (1st March) it says current Lead times for laptops are 11-13 days, it said the same thing when i placed the order.

Now, we are into day 5 and the order still says processing....does this part always take the longest??

I couldn't fast-track my order due to the hard drive i ordered (i assume they don't keep it in stock).

I just find it worrying that it still says that and i havent' heard anything from PCS yet.

Thanks
Matt

Processing is usually the longest process during a build. However it should be noted that the lead times quoted are averages and your particular laptop could be quicker than that and also it could take longer.

You'll probably get a mail when it moves from processing into building.

thanks for the reply.

Cool, i just wanted to know what peoples experiences were regarding the times etc.

I am trying very hard not to be impatient lol (its difficult).

I would have quite happily paid for fast track if it had let me.

Cheers

You'll find it sits in processing for ages, then typically moves through build and Q&A in a couple of days. It will be worth the wait...!

I am on 9 working days at the moment and still in pre-production, I am assuming they are simply busy.
As for lead times, they are estimates. I have notice a more accurate status.

Go to your account page, then View & track orders. If you scroll down a bit to "Status Descriptions" the "% of Orders Dispatched Within Timescales Indicated" does change on a daily basis.
I assume there have not been any Mini PC orders for some time as it was on 0% across the board, but since I placed my order it changed to 100% across the board and has slowly been changing as time progresses.

I'm only on my third working day and can't wait to get it since I'm currently without a laptop. Fingers crossed it won't take a month or so.

Well Laptop has moved into Pre-production now, not sure what means lol.

Is that were they get all the parts bought in ready to build it?

Processing and pre-production is basically the queue to get your machine built, mostly processing passes quickly (I think that's the bit where they are doing fraud checking and stuff like that), and the pre-production takes a while (ie. sitting and waiting in the queue) - if you stay in processing like you did for a bit longer it doesn't change how long you're sitting in the queue, just means slightly longer processing and slightly less pre-prod (afaik).

Well the site shows Laptops are averaging 17 working day at the moment.
Desktops for the first time I remember since I have been looking has dropped below 100% delivery rate for 28days.

I assume there are extremely busy at the moment. My last laptop I ordered in August took 9 working days from order to dispatch so I guess there are a few people still spending their xmas money :)

Well last week I was tempted to dish out the £59 for fast track. Then I decided to wait.
I will be adding almost £1000 of Hard drives to the machine when it arrives, so when I know it is being built I will order those up. So, the longer it takes for them to build the closer it is to next payday before I buy more drives :)

Saying that, I am almost out of space so could do with the machine sooner haha
