LogoFail attack

Just reinforces my view that the best security for your computer starts at the user level...and if you're opening yourself to risk by using dodgy websites and installing dodgy apps/drivers (or apps/devices that look legitimate, but from dodgy sources), then there's very little hope for you.

Hopefully more detail of how UEFI loads/displays the image will allow for mitigation...maybe by simply disabling the logo display in the BIOS settings (but I doubt it will be that simple)?

If only we could play access all our games without being connected to the internet, as that would be fine with me.

After a bit of googling, I found a Reddit chat saying that ASUS had issued BIOS updates to patch for LogoFail on my board (ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-I).

I’m no expert, but downloaded the latest BIOS update (which was very recent, 2024/03/22) and successfully followed some generic instal instructions. Hopefully all is OK now.

Is this a PCSpecialist computer...and if so, and it's still under warranty, did you ask for authorisation to do so?
