Long Time Lurker taking the plunge - Gaming PC?

Hi all.

I'll keep this short and simple but thoughts/amendments are welcomed kindly!

Budget; £1000.
Aim; Gaming.

You'll notice that CASE and RAM is missing - mainly because;

1. I'm not sure what case is best to have to best accommodate the items and namely, the Titan Fenrir.

2. 4GB or 8GB? in 2's or 4's?

Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™i5-2500k Quad Core (3.30GHz, 6MB Cache) + HD Graphics

Motherboard
ASUS® P8Z68-V: USB 3.0, SATA 6GBs, NVIDIA®SLI™, ATI®CrossFireX

Graphics Card
1.25GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 570 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready

Memory -
1TB SERIAL ATA 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 16MB CACHE (7,200rpm)

Power Supply
600W Quiet 80 PLUS Quad Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan

Processor Cooling
TITAN FENRIR EVO EXTREME HEATPIPE CPU COOLER

Many thanks! :)
(just a curious question; how good is the Liquid Cooling?)

Welcome!

Do you really need the 2500k? I went for the same graphics card with an i5 2500 and it should do the job and save you a few pennies!

You really only need 4GB RAM for gaming but I went for 8 just out of greed and saves me buying more in future¬

I would go for a 650W Corsair PSU.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the swift reply!

I have swapped to an i5-2500 and went for 8GB too!

Also went Corsair - Case is still an issue though, but will most likely go for a Cooler Master.

Thanks again for the responses! and +rep!

I like the slick design of the "COOLERMASTER CM STORM ENFORCER (£79)" but can anyone vouch for it's effectiveness of good air ventilation? The InWin does look pretty nice though, although very big lol.

Should I go for Titan Fenrir or Liquid Advance Cooling? I want to keep my PC very cooled as my room tends to get quite hot.

you wont need the liquid cooling imo, it will cut down your noise (slighty) and MAY keep it cooler (negligable) but if it breaks/splits/pops (probably wont, but still) then the entire machines bricked really

I guess I am just worried since my current stock PC (oh the pain!) is terrible that I am vying for my next PC to be beastly cool. Titan Fenrir should be beast enough for it :)

My main question is that the Fractal r3 is padded for quietness, so this may increase the temperature inside the system - I am probably just overthinking it though.

HAF-X all the way. Especially as when your mates come round theyll wonder why you now have a block of flats sat next to your desk, its huuuge :D, awesome for air cooling, titan fenrir fits in it nicely without having to remove the side fan either.

LOL! Rep for the block of flats - obviously for the extra rent revenue ;)

It's probably best I stick to something smaller, simply for more desk area to work on.

HAF-X is tempting though..

I would defo go for a CM case! Very good air flow and quite cool plus I think bigger the better when it comes to cases..
