Loss of water in liquid series setup

Hi guys, hope some of you can advise on this one.

I have a liquid series that cools my cpu and gfx card and I've noticed an air pocket in the tube under my gfx card.
I looked at the reservoir at the back of the rig and it's half empty.
I can see what looks like a filler cap on top of the res that's got an allen key fitting but I've never topped up water before.

Can anybody tell me how I go about this?
It's got yellow fluid from new but I'm not too fussed about finding or using yellow fluid.

I'd just like to know what steps I need to take, do I need to top it up with any special kind of water and do I need to somehow bleed the system?

I'm a bit nervous about this to say the least so would appreciate any help!

Hi mate, yeah the Liquid Series build are what's known as open looped systems and they need serviced and refilled every year ideally but every 2 years should be fine. At half a tank in the res sounds like it's time for a refill, it's normal enough for it to get that low but I wouldn't personally want it to go any lower

PCS actually offer a service where they will do this for you, not sure of the costs but you can ring them and find out. Your other best bet is to DIY it and watch some Youtube tutorials. It can be daunting at first and pretty scary to be honest but it's not actually all that difficult you just have to be very careful, have steady hands and the correct tools

How old is the system?

PCS do recommend sending it into them for a service every 1-2 years where they will refill it and doublecheck all the fittings and stuff (its a specific service for the Liquid Series machines)

If its not even a year old I'd give PCS a call anyways as I wouldn't think its lose that much (though I may be wrong)

Wow some quick replies there thank you!
It's over 3 years old now and it's been topped up once by them when it went in for a blown PSU under warranty about 2 yrs ago.
I didn't know I could send it in for a service, I like the sound of that.
So these things just lose water over time do they? My first thought was 'where can that much water have gone without me noticing?'
I'll give them a call and see if I can drive it up there and drop it off for a few days.

Many thanks for your help!

To be pedantic it's not technically water, it's a non conductive coolant. Basically it's a coolant that wont damage any of the parts should it ever leak and it's specifically designed to help dissipate heat.

Overtime the heat generated will cause it to evaporate slowly so eventually it needs replaced, I would try to get it done every 12-16months to keep optimal system health. When the res gets to half a tank it's a pretty easy measure of when it should be changed or topped up though
