I needed a new laptop (to be used somewhat as a portable desktop) and was I glad I ordered from PCS

Arrived with the following specs and with impressive protective packing

Chassis/Display : Optimus Series 17.3" (Clevo W370SS) / Matte Widescreen 1920x1080
CPU : Intel 17 4710MQ
RAM : 1x8GB Kingston Hyper-X 1600MHz
GPU : Nvidia GTX 860M, 2GB GDDR5, 640 CUDA cores

1st Hard Drive : SSD, 250GB Samsung 840Evo
2nd Hard Drive : Empty
Optical Drive : 8x DVD R/RW, 24x CD RW
Memory Card Reader : 9 in 1 card reader

Thermal Paste : ARTIC M4-X

Sound Card : Intel 2 channel HD Audio
Wireless : Intel Ultimate N-6300 (450Mbps)
Webcam : Integrated webcam

OS : Windows 8.1 (including dvd)

CM storm quickfire ultimate keyboard
1x battery
1x 120W charger

Warranty : Gold warranty (3yr labour, 2yr parts)
Delivery : PCS Extra-care Diamond

Total Price (inc external keyboard) : £1074.06
Laptop Price : £986.06

The build quality is not the best, although still good imo, especially since the laptop is at most 3.5kgs
The battery life is up to 6hrs according to PCS, but i am probably never going to be using this beauty of a machine far away from a power plug
The keyboard is one of the best on a laptop in my experience, although the touch pad leaves a lot to be desired. It is not as responsive and doesn't feel as smooth. The touch pad buttons are average, noting to shout about. Fortunately I almost always use a mouse.

Extremely satisfied with my purchase from PC Specialist, and the freedom to individually choose each component.
Basically what I wanted in the laptop was:
-Under £1000
-17.3" screen at least 1600x900, either matte or glossy
-Haswell quad core processor
-Decent GPU for low-mid level gaming on laptop
-Space for 2 hard drives AND an optical drive
-3 USB ports
-Upgrade to stock thermal compound
-Dual band wireless
-Windows OS already installed
-3 years parts and labour warranty

If I had bought off the shelf, I would have to make a compromise in specs or I would not be able to make it within my budget.
But thanks to PC Specialists and their customizability I was not only able to get my cake and eat it.
Well mostly, I didn't get the option for their Platinum warranty, and even if I would just narrowly exceeded £1000 (not that I would have minded much)

I would have purchased the CM storm keyboard even if I did not buy from PCS, but it was convenient to be able to get it in the same order.

I give PCS a 9.75/10. But hey nothing in this world is perfect.

Hi I have a similar spec in mind: A couple of thoughts: How much does is it weigh (laptop and PSU) can it sit on your lap for without crushing it. Plus my personal bugbear with the my Votext III: the "aircraft taking off" :( fan noise say when on high load?
