My New PC! Something I need to ask...

So okay I got a new PC from PCS a month ago? and it seems like My CPU clocked by PCS runs HOT! When on 100% ofcourse...
One guy asked me onto how hot my CPU gets when overclocked @ 4,6, I said I don't know and I found myself being interested how hot it actuly gets...So I got Aida64 Test version as far as I know and I did not see that coming...
I put the CPU and other parts aswell on test While everything doesn't even pass 50degrees My CPU cores 2 and 3 went to 104 O_O That is 1min in the test...Other cores weren't better, but kept under 100 which is not all that good either...I can take a picture if needed...

So is that supposed to happen? xD Not that my CPU ever has passed 20% load when playing games ^^

Thees are the specs...

Your CPU will get hot if it is overclocked but that does seem high. What are you using to report the temps?

I take it then you've tried several? It kinda does matter really :)

And I never said it wasn't hot, 100 degrees is very hot, I would have thought your PC would have underclocked the CPU or shutdown or something by then to be honest. Hence why I was asking.

Ah I see, nope no problems with the PC's performance, just the temps...CPU now on idle runs below 40 core 1 is @ 27 while other are 30+...CPU itself is 27 and CPU package what's that? ^^ is at 37...

Try using Core Temp http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ if you are not already to get a reading of your CPU temps.

Never heard of CPU Package Temp myself but a quick search suggests it may be the socket temp or something similar. Can not be certain though.

Alright, I put it on test for 1min just so you see, this picture is taken moments after it so a bit off idle temps...

That is toasty.

Might be worthwhile giving PCS a call as the heatsink may need reseating. Shouldn't be getting that hot as far as I know, unless someone else can tell me otherwise of course :)

Well since I'm not passing 20% of usage which means it don't get hot anyhow I will hold for more replys...Can't be bothered much only money wise... :(

If it does need reseating its something that would fall under your warranty. Unless this gets resolved some other way I would recommend giving them a bell. They will either walk you through doing it yourself or collect the pc from you and re-seat the heatsink themselves.

Best to get it done either way (if it is indeed the heatsink needing reseating as opposed to some other issue).

This is just a guess but I am assuming you aren't using water cooling. So I would maybe check the config of your heat sink in case you maybe have a push push config rather than a push pull config. Another that you may have already checked is that there is nothing blocking the airflow going into the heat sink/fans ?

Well the case itself is blowing air out, freezing my legs off xD, gotta check the heat sink then if it can be wrongly put...

If you are going to check the heat sink I strongly recommend contacting PCS first unless you are confident in what you are doing! They might agree it needs reseating and send you some thermal paste and instructions if required :)

Hellloooo,

If you turn the PC off and unplug it from the wall, open the side panel then touch some bare metal inside the case, or attach an anti static wrist band if you have one. See if the heatsink wobbles. It shouldn't be sliding around and appear loose, it should be a snug fit over the CPU. Also check that the fans are spinning freely and are attached securely. In transit they can come loose.

If all of that appears in shape, i'd be tempted to say theres too much thermal paste, or the cooler isn't sitting on the cpu properly.

Okay, slight bump...

I did a bios reset, well default thingy in it...

Umm...I would guess that it is the Overclock rather then the fan... ^^

I might of lost the fan trough as the PC didn't want to start and said something about CPU fan, it is spinning trough, but when I put the CPU on 100% it did not go faster by the sound at least...

EDIT: Ah okay got it Fan okay I guess... ^^

If nothing is wobbling as corfate suggested then I would contact PCS more for piece of mind than anything else. Make sure there are no issues! Glad you got your fan back on!
