looks ace mate, :) nice choice of case, offers great customisation!

I assume that you are adding a HDD?

looks good but just be weary of the ripjaw ram as at that speed it can be very unstable. send us some pics and a review on here when u get it.

Probably will do later, for the time being i guess i'll chuck in my old HDD and use that as a data store.

@NMEBowen, i'm in S.Wales too, come over and have a look! :p
Otherwise your statement about the ripjaw has made me slightly nervous lol. Will see how it goes, looks like it'll be 2 weeks before i get my grubby mitts on it, unless the finance company annoy me then i'll just buy it outright sometime mid-feb hopefully. Trouble is my current system is developing some interesting new features, like the AutoNoWarningWhere'sMyBlueScreenOfDeath?ComputerShutDown feature! xD And not forgetting the insane system lag i have atm, despite no problems flagged up in device manager and no crashdump files etc to be found relating to it.

On a side note i currently have Q6600 quad core, 4 gig Geil RAM (800mhz oh dear) 8800GTS 512 graphics and a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R mobo with 750W PSU.

hehe sorry to make you nervous im sure it will be fine but when overclocking i would run it at somewhere around 1800mhz this should let the ram run at a more stable rate. Just dont go nuts with pcs if you do have problems with the ram as others have they will fix any problems you have im sure of it, being such high profile ram it can be a bit like marmite. yer im in the valleys you can come take a look at my sli setup :D im trying to get my nvidia surround working soon so that should be cool to see if i ever make my mind up on what monitors to get.

OK, pc should be getting built this week (fingers crossed) was tempted to call up and ask for the 2TB Caviar black to be added as 2nd HDD, anyone know the price of it? If it's too late then i suppose i can just have it delivered seperately and put it in myself :)

My only recommendation would be to downgrade the RAM speed. I would then upgrade the GPU to the 7970. It is much more powerful than the 580. I would then upgrade the psu to about a 1050w.

I do get why ppl are liking the new 7970 but i have found some interesting stuff on it mainly about resolutions it seems the 7970 is fantastic at 1080p but anything above and the 580 comes out on top as when i goto my dads i use his dell ultrasharp which has a 1920x1200 resolution it seems i can get better framerates with my 580`s than a 7970 in crossfire and as i plan to eventually get a 3 screen setup though im not totally sure how it handles at 5760 x 1080 im still happy with my 580`s and as i do a little video editing the cuda cores also come in handy. saying the 7970 is better isnt really what ppl should think ok its better at 1080p and if your not doing any rendering but if your using high resolution monitors or wanting to use cuda core tech the 580 is the only option out of the two.

that's 2 ppl who suggested that, if it's an issue, why sell it? :confused: (if it's an overclock reason, i'm not going to overclock)

and why the 1050w psu? only additon i'm planning on is a hdd for data store. Also i've done some consideration over the gpu, i'm happy to go with the 580, it suits my needs better i feel.

Bigger psu so that you can add another gpu later, it will mean that the gaming life of the pc is extended. To get the most out of the RAM you have to O/C it, otherwise, the 1333mhz will probably be enough but you may as well go for the 1600mhz. The RAM speed is fast but it isn't perfected at that speed yet so can be a little dodgy.

oh i see, thnx for the info, probably too late to do anything about the ram and psu now anyway (got pc on finance so i cant be bothered changing it lol). May look to upping the psu/ram later on, i got rushed into buying my pc, cos my current one is dying fast D:

The original plan was to get the money 1st, then get advice etc. Suppose i can upgrade the psu/gpu later, just sell the other psu 2nd hand or something :p

The RAM is incredibly easy to change but that RAM there would be fine! The psu isn't too bad, you do have to do a bit of re-wiring though. PCS could easily guide you through this though so would be nothing to worry about!
