NAS and 64bit W7

Hi all,
I'm about to order a 64bit windows 7 desktop but have recently read that 64 bit w7 has issues with Nework Attached Storage. My current NAS, which I had so my wife can access our files from any of the XP machines in the house, has just died, thus, I'm in the market for a new NAS as well.

Q1. Has 64bit W7 have issues or not and what are my options if it does?
Q2. Any recommendations for a home NAS> My 250gb SATA disk is still OK so an empty box would do. As long as all my pcs will talk to it.

Cheers all.

Not heard of any issues, perhaps only with the older models. Most new NAS should work with XP and W7 64 without issues.

Hi, i have not had any issues, perhaps the issues people are talking about stem from the new homegroup networking setup? most likely a setup issue rather than an actual incompatability. As its going to be working on network protocols i would be very surprised if it did not work with any NAS.

Anyone remember those routers advertised as compatible with Vista??

I raged, its a networking device, of course its compatible with Vista, and XP/95/98/ME/7/OSX/Linux/UNIX/IOS/Android or any other form of os that is capable of using IP.

I can highly recommend the ReadyNAS Duo from Netgear.

We've got one with 2x Samsung 1.5TB F3 EcoGreen SATA300 5400rpm 32MB in it in Raid (Mirror ofc).
You end up with approximately 1.3TB space on your NAS, hotswappable.

Absolutely no problems on a network with multiple machines running both 64-bit and 32-bit OS of various types, including an old Xbox with XBMC and a '360 as well.
