Hi i've been looking for a replacement for my old laptop for a bout a year i'm specifically looking at ultrabooks as i'm looking to be using this laptop both whilst i'm at uni but still being light enough to sensible be able to carry home afterwards. i am looking at laptops with no smaller than a 14" screen as although i have a 22" monitor when i'm at home my eyesight isn't great and i struggle to see stuff on screens smaller than 14" s and therefore it would become an impractical machine for whilst i'm at uni. so far these specks aren't that challenging as you can probably find a hundred machines that meet these requirements with no issue bt here are the areas i'm starting to find my combination of google bit of knowledge of manufactures and what's on the market starting to struggle to find anything. as i want my ultrabook for when i'm at uni i'm looking for machines with a large battery life now this can either be in the form of a natural large battery life and not the minimum 5 hours intel requires for a machine to be called an ultrabook (as this tends to drop to a usable 3 1/2 hours pratically0 or by having a removal battery that can be upgraded to a more high capacity battery to extend its life span. on top of that i would like to find a machine that can be connected to a docking station(not a usb docking station) as these put all the strain of your peripherals through the cpu and disregard whatever orm of gpu you have which drastically slows down performance and life span) so that i can have a much netter and more usable desk than i currently have. and then on top of that i am looking at machines that either have at least 6gb ram if they are low end intel processors (with integrated graphics) as my experience shows these machines tend to struggle at some times with basic multitasking as i have often noted stuttering and freezing of video when i'm watching something on YouTube etc or machines with a decent ivy bri9dge processor with at least 4gb ram.preferably i'd like to spend no ore than £800 on this machine including any additional batteries (also if you could try and factor in the price of the docking station into this that would be helpful) it doesn't have to be a technical ultrabook (ie if its using amd processors or is slightly to thick and doesn't meet intels standards that's ok) as long as it is lightweight portable and has a large battery life and is dockable can you guys think of any potential machines that fit this sortt of bill in terms of OS it doesn't really matter between win7 and win8 but obviously i would like a 64 bit OS based on my ram requirements. i've got external hard drives if necessary but i would prefer at least 500gb storage if possible sorry for the rather awkward requirements if you have any further questions or comments feel free to ask.
