Need Help With Display on laptop - Blurry

Hi

I had to reinstall Windows on my laptop yeterday and so I did a clean reinstall of everything.

However, my display screen is just not sharp as it used to be.

My DPI setting is at 100%, which is what I had before. I have the latest nVidia graphics driver installed. I just can't seem to get the display to be sharp, it's slightly blurry - only slight but enough for me to notice it. It was fine before I did a reformat install of Window 10.

I have the drivers disk that accompanied my PCS laptop. Other than the nVidia display driver, are there any other display drivers or other hardware drivers from that disk which may affect the display that I should be installing?

If not, is anybody able to offer advice on this proplem?

Thank you.

You could try logging into the PCS website (not the forum) and checking if there are any alternative drivers supplied in the "tech support > Download" section?

Btw (OT) I love Elite Dangerous too :)

Also check you are running at the native (usually maximum) resolution of the panel.

Personally I always try to ensure I have the latest chipset, network and display drivers to hand for any reinstalations as these are the ones that often cause most headaches (especially the network drivers if you can't connect) so I'd check the first and last of these.

Have you installed the Intel graphics driver as well? What about the chipset driver?

TBH experience seems to be showing that Windows Update in Windows 10 does a fine job of finding all the right drivers, my advice would be to consider another clean reinstall and this time allow Windows Update to install all the drivers it can. It's only then necessary to manually install any that Windows Update doesn't find (and on most modern laptops it seems to find all the necessary drivers).

Hi

Thank you to everybody who has replied.

The disk does not appear to have any Intel graphic drivers. The only graphics driver I can see is the nVidia one.

I did consider one of those software, such as Iobit Driver Booster which scans your computer and finds any updated drivers for you, but I am skeptical about how effective (or dangerous) the are.

I would strongly advise against using any third party tools to get drivers, you have no idea where the driver has come from nor whether it's even the right driver for your hardware.

Intel have a driver update tool (for Intel drivers only) you can find it at https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html.

If it were mine, and based on my experience messing about with drivers, I'd do a clean reinstall and let Windows Update find and install all the drivers it can. Just keep re-running Windows Update until no more updates are found.

Remember the octane has desktop CPU's so doesn't have integrated graphics enabled.

That would explain why I can't find any such Intel Integrated Graphics Drivers >.< Thanks.
