Need some advise on a desktop pc

Hi,

I'm hoping for some help with this one please, I hoping to build a PC for gaming but my knowledge on components etc is reasonably limited. I've put together the below which came out to £1670, which is a little bit more than I would like to spend. Ideally I'm looking for something at the £1500 top end mark.

If I'm honest the main game that I'm playing at the moment is Civilization 6, but I'm trying to build something which is relatively future proof as I wouldn't want to spend a considerable amount on new parts anytime within the next 3-4 years. I imagine that it would be playing a mixture of RPG's and RTS games. I'm under the impression that the below would be able to play anything that I'm playing at the moment on the highest settings, however are there any components that I should definitely upgrade, or are there any that I could compromise on to reduce the price?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Adrian

You can do much better for the money.

The i7 6700k is better overall for gaming. You can also go for a pre-OCed build which makes the CPU faster still. The 6700k is also cheaper than the 6800k by some way.

The case is a very poor case for a high end gaming rig. Something £60+ with 2-3 preinstalled fans is strongly desirable.

The cheaper (but better) CPU also opens up your budget for a GTX 1070 instead of a GTX 1060.

The storage is also not ideal. You don't need a PCI-E SSD - they are horrendously expensive. A regular Sata one is fine and may actually offer higher speeds for some tasks anyway. A popular configuration is something like a 240gb SSD for the OS, programs and a few favourite games and a 1-2TB HDD for mass storage and other games.

The sound card is unlikely to add much from the onboard audio unless you have some fairly high end audio gear to listen on. And if you do, you may be better off looking into USB DACs.

Therefore maybe something like this:
