New Computer!

Hi guys,

Wondering what everyone would recommend for a super quiet build - i'm looking to get something with an i9. maybe a 4080, and DDR5 min 32gb - my big thing tho is that I want it to be quiet! My last computer through PCS is great and works away fine but the fans are so loud, no matter what I do with the fan curve it still screams at me in certain games, even at 1080p (thats with an older i7/rtx 2080s).

Any thoughts? Even using the build tool, what fans should I be looking at?

Thanks,
Owen

Depends on what you will be using it for (outside of gaming), what monitor you are using with it (as that dictates the GPU and, if it's a 1080p one and the budget is there, if you are open to upgrading to 1440p or above) and what the overall budget is
Iv got a decent LG 4k 60hz monitor, but obviously very rarely that for games on my current spec. Main use in reality will be gaming as I have another computer for work stuff, but wont be competitive gaming or anything like that. Ideally I wouldnt be spending more than €4k so I am happy to spend as long as its something that is quiet, and with upper end spec

Currently im on an i7 9700, rtx 2080super, 16gb 2666 ram. Nothing major but it keeps me going. Wouldnt mind spending a bit of money getting a decent upgrade, and get much quieter fans versus what I have at the min which roars at me (only stock model PCS FrostFlow 100 RGB Series)

It would make a lot more sense just to upgrade your current build, there's no need to replace it, wasting a good computer, there's plenty of life left in it. The whole point of a custom PC is that you can modify it as you like, it's very easy to do and will cost far less to get more performance than what you could get at your budget.

oh i agree, but the noise out of it just drives me mad! I know it might seem a bit excessive to replace the whole thing just because of that! I did think 4k would be enough for a decent upgrade tho. Thanks for the kick to upgrade tho :) I need to stop being lazy! :)
