New Gaming PC

Heya

I've never designed a custom PC before so was wondering if anyone could give me feedback (especially any areas where I could cut £100-£200 to get back into my budget because it's currently about £1400)

Case: Not sure should I just pick one that's big enough and looks nice?!?!
i5 3750k
ASUS® MAXIMUS V GENE
8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X 1600 (would increasing this be worth it/make much diff??)
2GB Nvidea GForce 680
180 GB Intel 330 series SSD
1TB Hard drive (I have no idea whether it's worth getting an expensive one or whether the most basic one will be ok)
12x Blue-Ray ROM Drive
Corsair 750W Enthusiast Series
Titan Fenrir EVO Extreme Heatpipe CPU Cooler
Onboard 6 Channel 5.1 High Def Audio (opinions on getting a better sound card? - maybe Sound Blaster® Audigy™ SE but not sure I need this just for games if I don't want to do any sound editing etc?)
10/100/1000 GIGAbit LAN Port (do I really need more than this basic one?)
6XUSB 2.0 ports
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

Thankyou very much!

Sarah

You could get the 2tb caviar black instead of the SSD and standard 1tb hdd, you could also downgrade the GPU but it depends on what you are using the pc for. GTX 680 is good for more than 1 monitor, very high resolutions in 1 monitor or 3d gaming.

Thanks, I'm planning on using one monitor (24") and pretty much for maxing out the graphics on games...wasn't sure whether I'd notice the difference between the 580 and 680 but since the 680 got glowing reviews I thought I'd future proof it. Not sure how noticeable the difference would actually be.. I'm not likely to make detailed notes about the fps I just want a good gaming experience which doesn't lag on top graphics settings.

Thanks :) My current card is an 8800 GTS so I should probably notice a huge improvement whichever I get :p

Get the 1333mhz ram (8gb) which would be fine,Youll see very little performance gain on the one you have selected now,Take out the ssd if your wanna cut back its not nessarciry and only good if youve got everything you want and you have extra money to buy one as there very expensive,As for sound i think the normal one will be fine unless your realy into your audio quality.
I dont know what 1tb hdd you selected because youve just said 1tb hardrive so could you post your whole spec?

Was thinking of getting the 1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s, maybe I'll get a smaller SSD, I really only wanted to install the operating system and steam onto it then have a bigger drive for storage.

I went from a GT 9500 to the GTX 580 and then GTX 680. You will notice the difference however between the GTX 580 and GTX 680 the fps do vary but I can't really tell the difference to be honest. If you wish to go with an SSD I would recommend the Intel SSD 330 120GB to save money, once drivers and OS is installed you will probably have around 90GB or a bit less available. A caviar black as a secondary HDD would be good since it is fast that the standard one.
