New Gaming PC

Hey All,

I'm at around a £2k budget for this spec. But i had a questions

Do I have enough Fans and Cooling additions (CPU Cooler, Extra Case Fans and Thermal Paste) to keep this device cool while top end gaming?

Also does anyone have any experience the wifi adaptor ASUS PCE-AC88 AC3100 2100Mbps/5GHz, 1000Mbps/2.4GHz and can you actually reach 1Tera Bits/s on 2.4gz. I have 1TB/s Fibre line but getting a hard wired Ethernet isnt really possible without large expenditure. I have also tried 1TB powerlines but my house wiring won't support that sort of speed.

Spec Below :)

Hi there,

I would get some advice on the build as a whole as it's not ideal at all. If you have a look at the below link then feedback with the required info we will get a spec drafted up in no time :)

Hi There,

My monitor is a

AOC Gaming C24G1 - 24 Inch FHD Curved Monitor, 144Hz, 1ms, VA, AMD FreeSync, Height Adjust, FlickerFree (1920 x 1080 @ 144Hz)

Looking to upgrade at a later date this year to a 144hz or 240hz 4k

Currently looking to build a new gaming Pc as I’m running and old gaming 1060gtx laptop! I’d like to use it for video editing too

Budget is around £2k and ideally I like the Ryzen 7 5800X3D and a 3070ti

I don’t really want to go for water cooling but I’d like to make sure I could run games like BF2042/Hogwarts Legacy as an example without worrying about heating!

I also wanted to go for the higher wifi adapter as running a hard cable would be difficult. I do have a 1Tb/s internet package.

I have created a build below to the best of my ability! But wanted to double check with some advise!

4K 240Hz mate you're talking at least a 3080. The 3070Ti will get you in the door of 4K but I wouldn't expect more than 100FPS in most things with it especially not modern titles

3070Ti would be the top end 1440p card if you really wanted to max those frame rates. If I was you I would want a 1440p 144Hz ultrawide to pair with that GPU

I'd change that PSU too, I would personally want an RMx PSU but minimum I'd recommend is the Txm. The CX models are very cheap and loud and just not designed for gaming machines

There are a number of changes I'd make to be honest, if you include the link at the bottom of the page you copy and pasted the specs from we can show you the changes we'd make. You can get so much more for your money

Hi There,

Thank you so much for you reply.
Yes i think 4k 240Hz might be a bit overboard. 1440p 144Hz Would suite me better!!

Here is the Unique URL to re-configure: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/amd-am4-gen3-pc/w9VyuDv7MG/

Thanks again for your help and i look forward to the respec!

Bad time for pcs, it's the very end of the current generation.

All new hardware in a few months so you'll get significantly more performance with newer technologies for the same cost.
Ye! Had a funny feeling That might be the case! Take it there isn’t much future proofing I can do to “get on the ladder” so to speak.

In such a difficult situation that i may not have this sort of budget again in a few months.

Whilst I personally disagree with the severity in which its been noted on 'how bad a time' it would be to invest (like if you need a PC... get a PC right.. its your money). You will get a good system and will not have a bad time.

That said, futureproofing is not a thing... at all... However, the point here is that there's going to be a new generation of hardware which will mean new motherboards etc. so its not even like you could just upgrade a few bits of kit to keep up to date if you wanted too.

I'd expand on what I said above though, if you bought a PC now, you'd probably end up paying about the same as you'd pay for the 'new' hardware once its out but you'd only get the performance of 'todays' hardware (which is by no means bad or poor, you wouldn't have a bad time as noted above)... but its right to note that you'd most likely be getting a 'more powerful' (£/performance-wise) PC with the newer hardware potentially also allowing for more features moving forward. It would be closer to 'futureproofing' (although as noted above... I dislike the term as its not a real thing) than anything else you could do.

That's my 2 pence worth anyway

Thanks for that!

I use the term "future Proofing" loosly in the fact that upgrades can be made minus the Motherboard and CPU. I guess hence the fact its worth waiting for the AM5 as in theory that will last the longest and increase the £ to performance.

One of them really difficult situations whereby i've been missing out on a decent gaming experience for a year or so now. But waiting another few months would 100% be worth it!

If you've no issues waiting then that's going to allow you access to a newer platform which could certainly provide a better 'bang for buck' :)
