New IPad Pro 9.7

Hi everyone was really hoping to get this new IPad Pro however it has emerged on the Web that this new tablet only has 2gb RAM vs the 4gb RAM found on the bigger 12.9 iPad pro. Also both the 12.9 and the new 9.7 iPad Pro have the same A9x processor however the processor on the new 9.7 iPad has been underclocked. My question is that is it better for the iPad to have 4gb RAM or should 2gb be enough especially with regards to future proofing. I've also read on the Web that ios is not very RAM hungry. Having said that, the general consensus on the Web seems to suggest that the new iPad Pro is not really an iPad Pro and is simply the iPad Air 3. Quite disappointed tbh with Apple's thinking with regards to this new iPad.

Hi keynes thanks for your reply. I think I might go for the 12.9 inch model or hold off until next year when the new models come out. I'd be pretty gutted in all honesty if I bought the new 9.7 iPad Pro and 6 to 12 months down the line they released a new model with 4gb RAM.

they always release a new model after 12 months, depends on what you use it for. For video editing or more cpu intensive use you should go for a laptop. If it is used for watching movies, reading or office applications the regular ipad will do the job.

If you're planning on doing anything productive then a laptop or Windows hybrid would be superior. With iOS, the iPad simply isn't a very productive device.

Hi keynes agree with you totally on what you have said which is why I will be buying a laptop from the PC Specialist later this year. Was looking to replace our 2nd Gen Nexus 7 tablet with something more upto date and with a bigger screen. Also wanted to try Apple's ecosystem and see if I prefer it to Android. Will have a look at both the 12.9 iPad Pro and the 9.7 iPad Pro in the shops and see what I think. What slightly puts me off the 12.9 iPad Pro is the fact that a lot of the apps are not optimised for it and apps will look a bit blurry due to the increased screen size and resolution on the bigger 12.9 inch model. I suppose you can't win them all lol.

Well, an iPad Pro is the fastest and most expensive iPad . Its good but not a total replacement of a laptop. If you have a small one like 9.7. It comes only with 2GB of RAM. Actually, it would depend on how you are going to use it.

I got one from work, can't tell the difference from an iPad Air 2 for my uses which is just watching movies, browsing and using office.
