I will soon be getting a new Optimus Pro XI, replacing my Defiance IV that is now sadly ‘end of life’. Spec can be seen here: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/threads/new-optimus-pro-for-old-defiance.74265/
I read another thread as well regarding a checklist of things to do for new PC and some advice is to fresh install Windows 10.
I have asked for one drive to be split 200/800 as I like to keep the windows installation as separate as possible to anything I then install / save etc. backing up the drives separately then too. Windows will already be preinstalled on the 200 part.
if I download to USB windows 10 from Microsoft and go to do a completely fresh install wiping the current drive, will it ask me for licence code (ie do I need to make any notes for licences before I start)?
I then plan install windows, let Win10 do all the drivers, run Win10 updates, reboot, run windows 10 updates, reboot, repeat until happy that all updates completed, then install the PCS control centre, then install nvidia GeForce experience and drivers. Then I will do a back up. Then I will install my programs (steam, Lightroom, Photoshop) to the 800 portion and reinstate my photo catalog library etc, then run another backup.
forgot to add that I will also create restore points at some stages.
have I missed anything obvious or does anyone have any advice on above please.
Thanks
