What is your budget? You can get the Samsung PM961 m2 SSD for only a few quid more and that is much quicker than the WD Black, likewise the faster RAM is not much more. The Optimus you have chosen is the older one, if you have the cash the new Optimus IX has the eighth generation CPUs with more cores/threads, although is quite a bit more expensive.

I have an older Optimus and carrying is not a problem, they are 2.5Kg. I am not a gamer so cannot give a decent answer on that question.

Agreed with PM961 suggestion

The new Optimus IX is more expensive - the CPU is a good bit better but that may not really be worth it for general schoolwork. In fact, I'd probably suggest dropping the CPU in the spec above to the i5 7300HQ.

If you need a very powerful CPU for things like video editing, or want to futureproof for that, go for the Optimus IX, if you just need a CPU for office work the 7300HQ is fine.
