id like to buy a new laptop

dont have a spec in mind but i would like the following:

HDMI out

Wireless internet

15" screen min

Be able to dl movies while working in excel/ on internet

capable of streaming video

large enough to store movies/ music

Like to be able to play games a a PS3 level

dont really have a budget in mind but id like to keep the costs down.

Hi brailer,

I'm not sure about the PS3 games part (I don't game at all) but all your other requirements should be easy to find on most laptops that PCS sell. Take a look through the range at http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/laptop-computers/ and check the detailed specs for each laptop, if you start at the cheapest you'll be keeping your costs as low as possible. Once you find the model that appeals open the configurator for that model and start seeing how various CPUs/RAM/HDD/SDD combinations affect the price.

If you need help deciding which CPU, how much RAM and/or what sort of HDD or SDD ask again, there are a lot of knowledgeable folks on here who will be glad to help.

I think it would help a bit if you have a max budget, as this can help factor in GPU and CPU followed by all the other items, but as you say gaming im guessing GPU will be the main priority.

looking at the vortex III (without changing anything) it seems a bit OTT for what you want to do (MS office, movie streaming & gaming). IMO the gpu is way better than anything a ps3 can produce, in order to beat a ps3 graphics wise, any dedicated graphics card should perfect seeing as 7th gen (I think that's right) consoles are ancient.
