New Mid Spec PC

Hi guys,

So I've had my PC for around 5 years now and although still runs most applications/games perfectly fine, it is becoming a little sluggish so it is time to invest in a new one! I would mainly be using it for gaming/video editing etc. I have chosen this spec because it is within budget (£1500) but seems like a pretty neat one which allows for additions later on (i.e SLI). What do you think? Any help appreciated... Also I wasnt' sure what the difference between the i7-2600 and i7-2600k was? Any clarification on this also appreciated ! :D

Looks like you have put together a very well balanced spec, the difference between the CPU's is the K series are unlocked to make overclocking easier so if you won't be OC'ing then just get the normal 2600 but if you want the option of OC'ing then you at least want to upgrade the CPU cooler to the titan fenrir evo. Only other thing on your spec i would change is the PSU to a 1050W as this will leave you some good breathing room if you add a second GPU at a later date and also anything else you want to add in as it's always better to have a PSU that is not being pushed anywhere near it's maximum.

Fear`s suggestions are good but i might also add you can drop the motherboard down one notch as there is little difference between the pro and normal gen 3 motherboards, the pro has a total of 4 USB 3.0 ports 2 more than the gen 3. With any spare money id up your ssd to the intel 510 or kingston as these will make full use of 6Gb/s sata III.

Great, thanks for the quick responses and suggestions. I will downgrade the motherboard one notch and go with the 2600. Will upgrade the SSd and psu as well. Will order this weeekend, already can't wait for it!!:turned:
