New monitor questions

I'm thinking about buying a new monitor and I have a couple questions, let see if anyone can help:

1º Im not sure 24" or 27" I will use it in my desk about 50cm apart, so I'm not sure if 27 might be too big?
2º Im not sure whether to pick IPS or TF... Also, how relevant is the 60Hz vs. 120Hz?
3º Say I would go for 27" and x1440 resolution... Do you think my graphics card (870M) would be able to handle it? If not, do you think 27" with x1080 is ok?

I will use it for gaming, but Im not hardcore, plus I also watch movies series, etc...

Thanks a lot!

The size is personal preference. I run a 22, and fine that ample, i personally think i would find 27 a bit big for a monitor, but its a subjective thing.

IPS generally the better panel. th refresh rate is again a bit subjective, but in your case an 870m probably wont be able to drive a 1080p too far about 60fps anyway, certainly not a 1440p display. Movies will be the same no matter 120 or 60

the 870m would need to be running games on lower settings to drive a 1440p monitor, id stick with 1080p. Just maybe not a 27 inch one, 24 should be ample, the pixel density on a 1080p display is plenty.

I guess I will stick to 1080 and 60Hz, so I will go for IPS then. No point expending extra money in 144Hz nor 1440p when I wont benefit all that much from it. Thanks a lot for your tips!

I'm still torn between 24 or 27 though, since I think that the difference might be worth it when watching movies, etc.

Yeah, certainly a 27 would be better for movies. As I said, personal preference. Personally I don't watch anything more than youtube on my PC, even then I only full screen it sometimes.

If you have the space you wont go wrong at 27 inch.
