New NOVA 15

Hi, new here, looking for some advice/comments.
My primary computer, a ROG G751JY, recently broke down and i am in need of a new one. This brought me here and to the NOVA, which seems to be right up my alley.
The weight/battery time does not bother me, as it is quite similiar to my old laptop in that regard.

Currently it will mostly be used for gaming, these are the specs i came up with (about 1795 Eur), any thoughts?
And does anyone now if the RTX 2070 is the REFRESH version like the XMG are offering, and if not does it matter?

It's pretty perfect for gaming, nothing I would change at all. It's an absolute monster. TBH, you could reduce the processor to the 3700x if you wanted, may actually perform better for gaming as it has higher single core speeds.

I think it's the original 2070, but to be sure I'd give PCS an email. There would be a difference between the original and the refresh, I think the refresh card uses lower voltage and therefor lends to better battery life and slightly higher clocks. I'm not sure specifically but I think the improved performance would be failry marginal, maybe around 5% improvement.

But the 2070 on a 1080p screen will max it out for some time to come anyway, it's very overpowered for the screen really which is a good thing on a laptop as will last that much longer.

I can't find any benchmarks on the refreshed RTX 2070 at all, not sure why.

The GDDR6 on the Gpu means it's the refreshed 2070, the originals where GDDR5, basically the only difference, allows lower voltage to the ram, and slightly less latency, where most of the improvements come from, but really only see any difference in laptops and not the desktop parts as they don't take advantage of the power savings obviously. This is also why there's practically no benchmarks for the refresh, as most people benchmark the desktop cards, where there is no real difference, but on laptops it tends to lead to a slight improvement due to the Gpu core having a little more power to play with.

Good to hear about the refresh!

Thank you both for your answers, will think about going for the ryzen 3700 instead of 3900 and save a few bucks.(y)
