apologises. I am not looking to replace my monitors - i currently have (2)1920 x 1080 144mhz esports nvidia monitors (duel monitors) the refresh rate is 1ms this is for gaming and streaming my content on twitch. i think i purchased them a few years back for around £300 each and still work perfectly fine.

Games will be games such as Genshin Impact, Elden Ring, and horror games and not fast paced shoot em ups , so i want the picture on the screen to be vibrant and colourful for me and my viewers :)

Hopefully this helps

That's not the refresh rate but the response time, as per the guide, if you're not sure then we need the make and model

On 2 monitors, only one benefits from high refresh as the other isn't running any gaming scenario, so it's only 1 for the purpose of gaming.

I’m looking at getting better monitors next year (these are 3+years old already) to 2 x alienware 4k dual resolutions AW2725QF (27”) to enable the ultimate gaming experience, to go with this build, but when i first get the PC i’ll be running my old monitors whilst i recoup further budget for the monitors :)

Thanks for advice. regarding the setup above - would there be any recommendations to change anything ? or is the PC relatively a decent build? i was contemplating changing to a 9800x3D but how much difference would this be?

I just wouldn't advise buying a top end GPU from this generation, especially as you don't have a monitor to pair with it.

I would personally suggest buying a 1080p GPU now, and then getting a 4k GPU when you get the new monitors as by then the 5000 series will be out and you'll get more performance at the same budget. So overall you'll probably spend about the same but get far better performance overall.

following my own bad judgement i brought a pc with not very good upgrades opportunity available. as this is only at awaiting dispatch stage i have the facility to change or amend order for £12 which following another post is what i should do! what would the best 1080p GPU be for now then if i shouldn’t buy the XTX? if you can give me some advice following FOYI post, as the GPU he has posted was similar price to what i already had ? I’ve changed the Ram to corsair 6000MB/s as per Amd5 sweet spot, PSU to 1200w, Cooler to a high performer, SSD to 4tb and 7000MB / s but i’m stuck with the GPU. any help before dispatch would be appreciated, so i can amend for cheaper if it means i get a better performing PC until 5000 series out

Thanks

Personally I would go back to the 2 TB and swap the CPU for a 9800x3d instead. Would definitely help in some of the more CPU bound games relative to the 9900x just from the larger cache with the x3d chips. Not sure what cooler you've picked but good options might be H115i CAPELLIX or the new 360 RX AIOs. If you need more storage down the line, it would probably be cheaper to stick in a SATA drive and just move off files you don't use regularly on to that.

I don't think you'd gain much going to 7000 mb/s for the storage drive unless you intend to boot off it.

GPU wise, I think the 7800 xt seems decent if you want to use it as a stopgap for 1080p gaming and some 1440p on occasion. You could even go as low as a 7600 xt depending how how much you are comfortable paying.

Hope this helps!

7800 xt is a 1440p GPU. 7600/7700 xt should suffice for 1080p gaming at the moment, depending how long you want to use it for. I believe there are new GPUs coming out early next year, might be worth a wait.
