New PC Spec - feedback welcome

Hi, I'm an electronic engineer but completely new to the world of spec'ing a PC, so I would welcome any feedback from those with experience. I have done some research so hopefully I'm not wildly off the mark. This PC is intended mostly for gaming, but I also do some photo and video editing (hence going up to 32 GB RAM with room for more in the future). I wouldn't be shy of a little overclocking, but nothing extreme. The 500GB M.2 storage is intended for the operating system and most common apps/games, the 1TB for photos/videos that I'm working on, the 2TB for back up and versioning (mostly in case of disk failure). Long term storage and back up will be handled on the cloud and external storage. The extra case fan is intended for the rear of the case. Let me know what you think:

I would change a PSU to Corsair RMx 850W for its better quality (run cooler and more quiet than TXm), also 850W because you may need more power in future if you upgrade a GPU after some years, and because PSU within time looses some power draw capabilities.

Asus AC88 isn't necessary, Intel AX200 is a wonderful wifi card with a built-in Bluetooth.

If video and photo editing is heavy or closer to professional rather than occasional, I would consider changing 5600X CPU to 5800X. But this one requires a better cooler then - should be paired with Corsair H115i or better. But H115i is perfectly good for 5800X.
I would also change Ram to 3600MHz (but two sticks, same as now, 16x2, not 8x4 as currently Asus motherboards have some issues with 4 Ram sticks).

Don't use Chrome - it's an old school browser which sucks lots of Ram and got aggressive towards your personal data. Google absorbs your browsing patterns and turns them into profit.

Asus VG27BQ isn't good. For video/photo editing you need the best monitor, so should be IPS panel, while this monitor has the oldest technology - TN - panel. VA panel would be in the middle but for your uses I recommend IPS.

Asus Tuf Gaming VG27AQ is the best for that, or Samsung Odyssey G7 if you want it curved.

PSU: Good point, I hadn't considered future upgrades.
Wifi card: A friend advised not to cross the streams between AMD and Intel, but maybe this isn't an issue? If the Intel card will work and I get Bluetooth, then great!
CPU: My photo and video editing is strictly an occasional amateur hobby - I belong to a camera club but I'm definitely not professional (nor do intend to be!). Therefore, if the 5600X is good enough for gaming and balanced enough with the other components, I'll probably stick with that (although please correct me if I'm wrong).
RAM: I saw on a different forum that there had been issues with 3600MHz RAM and the TUF-X570-Plus Mobo. It might have been a BIOS issue that has been fixed now? If you think it will work ok, then yes, it makes sense to go with the faster speed.
Browser: I normally use Firefox, but had some compatibilty issues with some sites (where the site had a built in tool for photo book development - the web designer had clearly only optimised it for Chrome). Chrome had worked but I don't like it, so yes, maybe I'll change that - it's fairly arbitrary compared with the hardware specs.
Monitor: I can't see either of the two monitors that you suggested in the selection, so I assume that you are recommending them from a different retailer. The main specs I want are for gaming:

1. 27" or 28" (don't mind if it is curved or flat)
2. 144Hz refresh rate
3. 1 ms (or better) response time
4. 2560 x 1440 resolution
5. Freesync
6. Reliable (I've had a monitor before where the colour went after about a year)

I'm happy to take recommendations (including where to buy). I've lost faith in Amazon - I've seen too many conflicting descriptions that make me think that the sellers don't know what they are selling and have got it wrong, or reviews which imply that the items are (badly) refurbished rather than new.

you should try the opera gx browser. i started using it after i BSOD (i had a stick of ram burn out and im 95% sure it was all chromes fault) its not as ram heavy and you can even limit cpu/ram usage

You can definitely have all this in your budget.

The Intel Wifi card is fine -- I have the same motherboard and Wifi card combination and it works fine; it's all open standards anyway. The 5600X is fine for video editing (again, it's what I have), though you can afford the 5800X in the build I'm suggesting. With RAM I'd personally stick with the 3200MHz as the 3600MHz is not a large upgrade at all, not worth it in my book. With the browser, in my experience I just got Edge even though I asked for Firefox, so as long as you're happy installing browsers yourself it doesn't much matter: I personally use both Firefox and Chrome, especially for Google websites where it is definitely better.

For the monitor, I'd go with @Citrus_9's suggestion of the Tuf VG27AQ for c. £430.

For the graphics card, I'd suggest the Nvidia RTX 3070. This is because (a) it's better for gaming (though not a lot) and (b) it's far better for video editing. (AMD cards are a long way behind in video editing performance.)

Here's my recommended build. The only other significant changes are an upgraded cooler (the 5800X is hot), upgraded power supply, and a downgraded third storage drive: going for a traditional hard disk saves a lot of money, and the speed advantage is not useful on a tertiary drive (I've also suggested a slightly slower second M.2 SSD because using a 980 as your gaming/project drive isn't great value for money). (Personally I'd get webcam, keyboard, mouse and Office subscription elsewhere as well, but that's all obviously very personal to your taste!) Finally, while the case supports the rear fan, the configurator isn't letting it go alongside the upgraded cooler for some reason, so I've dropped it; it's probably unnecessary, and very easy to add yourself if it is needed.

Yeah, that's entirely possible. It shouldn't matter: the H115i should be plenty for exhaust purposes and there's a decent argument to be made that it's better to have more intake fans than exhausts.

Assuming those SSD are for general storage I've tweaked the storage configuration and given you a 2TB HDD for general storage and a 1 TB M.2 for your games. general storage doesn't benefit from standard SSD speeds, and the M.2 is way faster than the SSD, and Doing that I've saved you about £100

Assuming those SSD are for general storage I've tweaked the storage configuration and given you a 2TB HDD for general storage and a 1 TB M.2 for your games. general storage doesn't benefit from standard SSD speeds, and the M.2 is way faster than the SSD, and Doing that I've saved you about £100

Thanks Martin. There was some method to the madness with my storage selections. I have to do lots of versioning and back-ups with large files and so I am keen to have fast storage where possible. As you know, SSDs do make quite a difference compared to HDDs. The other reason is that my environment is subject to some minor vibrations! I've had issues with HDDs in the past becoming corrupted or suffering with read times because of very minor damage or movement in the read head - therefore, if I can remove the moving parts, I'm hopeful that I can increase the lifespan! I have been toying with which drives to have as M.2 and which to have as SSDs. I might keep playing.

Do you think my selection of 1000W power supply is overkill? I wasn't sure whether to leave it at 850W (which is what I had when I previously selected the Ryzen 5 5600X CPU).

If you definitely want SSDs (and your reasons do make sense) and you don't mind spending a little more, I'd go for something like the below. This gives you the silly-fast 980 as the boot drive, the 1TB M.2 drive as a second drive, the PCS SSD for the 2TB bulk drive (the difference in speed to the Samsung is so minimal thatI'd be happy with the PCS one).

The 1000W is definitely unnecessary unless you think you might be really upgrading your graphics in future. By which I mean: can you conceive of ever spending £1500+ on a graphics card? If the answer is no, then 850W is plenty.

Oh, and I've just noticed you have gone to the 6700XT. This is fine for gaming, though not quite as good as the 3070 for just £20 more; if you're still thinking of video editing, though, it's much worse, and I'd strongly advise the 3070. Certainly I'd take that over the 1000W power supply.

Agree with this, at current prices I would recommend the 3070 over the 6700xt. That being said, the 3060ti is back in stock and is £100 cheaper than the 6700XT, so that's also one for consideration.
850W PSU will be fine. I'm a weird kid who went for the 1000W but please do as I say, not what I do 🤪
