Any obvious noob mistakes?

I primarily use it for games, I'm not obssessesed with running everything on ultra, generally happy with anything over 30 fps but understand with the next gen consoles on their way and graphically intnse games due out next year (I'm looking at you Star Citizen) it's time to upgrade.

Currently running a 5 year old rig (also from PCS) that I recently threw a GTX550-ti in (found it in curry's bargain basement for a tenner) and it's beggining to feel the strain, especially running ARMA 3. Though I feel it is a testament to the quality of PCS that it's lasted me this long with zero problems apart from those of my own making.

Anyhoo, any advice or just helloes gratefully received

I'd change the motherboard, that one will limit you severely for upgrades being a micro board. Have a Caviar Black as your secondary HDD, much better performance. And if you ever want to add a second GPU you'll want a bigger PSU which would be a hassle and costly to replace in the future. I'd also recommend the triple copper heatpipe CPU cooler.

Ah thank you, hadn't realised it was a micro board, what part of the product code designates it as such , so i can make sure i don't repeat the mistake?

I may have to jiggle it about a bit cost wise to get a bigger PSU, maybe lose the SSD as it is a luxury rather than necessity I suppose

The 'm-' as the prefix. A quick Google of any board is always a good idea, if you click the ? on the right in the configurator it gives you info on the products although that board isn't on there.

Possibly, we'll juggle some specs for you for your budget.

Just add another HDD down the line when you need to.

nice one, appreciate the input and swift response, that definitely looks do-able and it's taken me 5 years to fill my current 1tb hard drive so as you say could easily upgrade later

cheers!
