I have an order in "Pre Production" status I really hope this isn't going to be a problem to change as I really think this spec will suit my needs more (gaming, video editing, Photoshop). I hate messing people about but this kind of money is a lot to me and I want to get the right machine fingers crossed PCS will be ok with the e mail I sent them.

Looks good I'm not too familiar with this case so wait for a second opinion on whether the cooling would be adequate (you don't want to fry your brand new Ivy ;))

I saw your post on the other thread and I don't see any real reason to overclocking you've got the newest CPU you can get and I don't think the risk of overheating (especially with this case) and possible decrease in lifespan justify it.
I'm guessing you can't quite stretch it to the GTX 680, you might want a bigger PSU to SLI your 580 later on but that's up to you.
Have you got an external HDD? I know that 750GB would not be enough for me but depends on your needs :walkman:

Looks like a very well thought out build for your needs , a good all round video editing , gaming spec - i cant really advise what i was going to - ( Another GTX 580 SLI & a Bigger PSU , for ultimate gaming performance) as upon looking at the motherboard the second PCIe only runs at 4x mode & i would think they would need at leased 8x each to perfom well ( not even sure it would work at all )

But yes looks like a very nice build to me , hope you enjoy it

The motherboard that is selected only support AMD's crossfire so no point adding a higher watt PSU if getting Nvidia unless the motherboard is upgraded to an Sli capable one aswell.

So it does !! , did not relaise that , thought that most MOBOs these days supported both - oh well always something new to learn  (i should have looked a little closer , got bogged down with the PCie speeds)

Well called PCS today and amended my order, they have been great with me changing things I have to say which is a big plus for me as its the first time ive used PCS. I went with the new Ivy Bridge, went with the ASUS® P8Z77-V mobo, upped the ram to 16 gig Kingston Hyper 1600 and dropped the SSD drive to a single 1tb WD CAVIAR BLACK. This way if later I want to give it a slight overclock on I can and it also enables me to go SLI if I want.

You won't be able to SLI a 580 with a 750W PSU. Just bear that in mind if you decide to SLI in the future :walkman:

Yeah I was tempted to up the PSU but ive maxed my budget right out and im getting the evil eyes from the wife each time I upgrade anything, in all honesty this will play BF3 quite nicely and I see no reason to fork out hundreds at this moment in time to play it on Ultra.

As long as you are only using 1 screen a single GTX580 will max BF3 out no problem so no need to worry about Sli for a while yet.

Depends what framerates you want , Ultra in 30 - 40 fps yes (alternating / dipping)
Ultra in solid at all times 60 fps No , 1X 580 cant do this , A GTX 680 cant even do it ( it almost can but not quite)
A GTX 580 SLi will do it no problem at all.

If the system is mainly for gaming , then drop the i7 , hyperthreading is of little or no use for games , as they cant take advantage of the virtual cores ( yes battlefield 3 can in fact , but it does not need an i7 to run optimally , i have the sandy i5 2500k & it runs perfectly) , money can be saved here if you go for the eqivilant ivybridge processor , this cash could go toward a PSU or case upgrade (most say a 850w PSU for 2x GTX580 SLI , but i would go for a 1050w model) , this way you have plenty of power in reserve & a more smooth supply to your components ( potentially )

Also the case , looking at it on youtube its a nice case , but im not so sure it is big enough or has enough airflow for SLI , (SLI can get a bit warm in the best of cases ) , so if at all possible with the saving from the i7 & a little more cash , try to do both upgrades if you can stretch to it . this way you will be future proofed.

I assume you are thinking about SLI as you have changed the MOBO to a compatible one , so it might be worth some thought.

Thanks for the advice guys , in all honesty with regards to SLI ive just left that as an open door way down the line, ive completely gone over my budget as it is its, I may not want or need it but this way its an option if I do, I would be kicking myself if I had to get a new mobo later if I did. At this moment in time im running a Radeon 6950 ive set Ambient Occlusion to SSAD, VSYNC to ff and Antrotropic filter to 4 x and all the other settings to High and im getting a steady 70 fps everywhere. I do find with BF3 so long as your not anal about certain settings you can get a real FPS boost and lets face it even on low the game looks stunning. I really need to also make sure the PC has plenty of kick when using Photo Shop and Video editing as well for my web work which was the thinking with the i7.

With V-sync turned off you will be getting terrible spliup (screen tear) - unless your monitor supports 70hz & upwards as you said your getting 70fps ( a lot do ) , but when V-sync is enabled the hardware tries to match the fps to the refresh rate ( HZ ) of your screen , this is where gpu power is really used. ( & your card will be working overtime with V-sync Turned off as it just tries to give you as many frames per second as it can with no limits - turning v-sync off is usually just for pure benchmarking & not really for everyday gaming .)

Byt yes stay with the i7 if your doing video editing would be the best idea .
