A few points, for your budget you would be better off with an AMD build. The cheaper platform will allow you to spend more on a better GPU. The SSD you chose has major performance issues and does not reach the stated speeds, you would be better off with just a HDD for your budget. Onboard sound is fine so a soundcard isn't needed.

If you can push to £750 you can get a 1080p monitor and something like the following, if not drop the RAM down to 4GB as this is easily upgraded at a later date.

CORSAIR CARBIDE SERIES™ 200R COMPACT GAMING CASE

OK as Im no expert please feel free to correct me on this but in general are intel cpu's and nvidea gpu's better performing than the AMD counterparts?

An i5 would be better than the fx-6300 but for your budget you can get more value for money with the fx-6300. Regarding GPUs it depends on the type of gpu, amd GPUs usually offer better value for money but in terms of perfrmance either is as good compare to their respective equivalent

How long do you think i could use the machine with that spec? Would it last for a few years before needing upgrades? To be honest I haven't a clue what im doing!! If anyone else could chip in with some builds that would be great! Just to get a general consensus of which is the best way to go.

How long it would last really depends on your expectations (settings, resolution....) and the games you play. I don't think anyone can really answer that.

well adding the iwin GT ONE BLACK GAMING CASE makes the total £834.£850 would be as far as I could push. What are your thoughts elsewhere? Any issues/improvements to the rig within the £850 limit?

Again thanks for the help.
