Was looking at getting this, but not sure about Windows 8 or stick with 7?

Also should I go for the quad core?

The operating system is completely up to you, some people can't stand W8 and some people love it and some people prefer to stay safe and get something they know with W7

And I'd recommend getting the quad core to make sure it isn't a bottleneck to your GPU

Make sure to upgrade to the silver warranty for a fiver as well :)

My budget is around £1300....good advice on the quad core will take a look at that one. This should be a beast of a gaming laptop.

We love you Ukraine
I'd upgrade the v300 ssd also as they have pretty terrible speed issues. The Samsung or hyper-x would be better

Get the quad core i7-4710mq, since it's actually cheaper and has double the cores! As for windows 7 vs 8, it depends, some people hate windows 8 but others don't. Personally I still use windows 7, since I tend to be quicker with it. Also, get a different SSD, the V300 isn't very good, get any SSD other than that one, or you could drop the SSD and get the 880m instead.

It may be a daft question but is the quad core better than the faster dual core......I have an i5 2.6ghz so if I get the quad 2.5 is it much better?

I would drop to the 2.5GHz quad core, that would be fine. It has a turbo boost mode so 2.5GHz is not really its max clock. The turbo boost can be set up to 3.7GHz on single core and 3.5GHz when 4 cores are being used using Intel XTU if you are happy to use that. If not it will still hit 3.5 on a single core and 3.3 on 4 cores.

That money saved could get you a GTX880M which is a better investment if this is for gaming.

Thanks, good point it now works out a bit cheaper......and I have reduced the RAM to 8GB as can upgrade later if I require. OMG I cant believe I might actually get a 880M! What dreams are made of! :)
