No more 4K screens for Octane III?

From the specs people posted about their 17.3 Octane III, I've seen that a lot have 4K screens.
But currently there's no option to pick 4K screen in the configurator. Is it just the case of it being out of stock?

Perhaps. I know some options disappear if they are out of stock, but they also disappear if they area discontinued. May be worth just phoning them. The number is free to call.

Depending on your phone plan :) Otherwise it would be the same cost as calling any regular landline. Alternatively there's the livechat I think.

I'm not at all surprised by that. I personally think manufacturers need to start being more pragmatic because we don't have huge technological limitations now and things are being oversold. A 4K panel in 17" laptop may be nice, but I don't think it will add a lot of value, and for day to day use of windows the scaling is terrible across applications too. I think you're safer with 1080p or 1440p if you can get it.

I agree, I considered a 4k screen for mine, I could have afforded it on top of the specs I chose, but I decided against for the reasons you said. Also the 1080p screen I did opt for has G-Sync which works well, I don't think on a 17" screen I would notice a significant difference between 1080p and 4k though. On a 49" TV yes, a 17" laptop, not so much.
