Noisy new PC?

Hi guys - got my new PC yesterday:
COOLERMASTER SILEO 500 QUIET MID TOWER CASE
Intel® Core™i7-870 Quad Core
ASUS® P7P55D-E PRO with 8GB SAMSUNG DDR3 DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz
SUPER QUIET 22dBA TRIPLE COPPER HEATPIPE CPU COOLER
CORSAIR 650W PSU (TX650) 80+ ULTRA QUIET

which is very nice, but I was bit astonished by the amount of noise that the Corsair 650 - ahem! - Ultra Quiet made. PC started off lovely and quiet, but after about five seconds the Corsair fan suddenlykicked in and it ROARED! The whole point of getting a Sileo 500 and the Corsair was so it would be lovely and quiet, instead it was at least three times louder than my old Dell Inspiron. :-(
When I tried it again this morning things were quieter, but I'm now a bit nervous that I've wasted my money. Are there BIOS settings I can change to reduce the fan noise at all? Is the fan set on max RPM initially??

Also - and this is probably just me being silly - but on CPU-ID the RAM is showing as being about 660MHz, rather than the expected 1333Mhz. Is there a reason for this??

I'd be grateful if anyone could help...

It is dual DDR3, CPU-Z and such programs will divide the mhz by 2... SO... 660mhz multiplied by 2 is 1320mhz, so it is configured correctly in BIOS as X.M.P.

However I doubt that the fan you speak of is the power supply, my HX1000W when gaming is not audible because of chassis fans.

I suspect it is the CPU fan which is NOT set to automatically adjust to CPU temps (Q-Fan control in BIOS).

Enter your BIOS, go to power, scroll down to Q fan control, make sure it is ENABLED as per this picture!

EDIT: You may well also need to set chassis Q fan control on too as Gorman says, infact speaking of which, should I be doing the same too Gorman on a HAF 932? I have the option but I never did it :p

Sleinous is right, go into BIOS and goto power then hardware monitor, set qfan enabled for cpu and chassis and set the profile to silent.

Hes also right about the dual channel RAM.

Isnt he a clever clogs.

Hooray, thanks everyone - so it is my perfect computer after all! :-D

Although...I had a good look'n'listen last night and was fairly certain it was the PSU rather than the CPU fan.
But, as I say, it had quietend down again this morning, so perhaps it was just the excitement of the unboxing last night. :p

PSU shouldnt be making much racket at all, like I sai dmy HX 1000W is deadly silent on bootup etc and well...its an HX 1000W lol, speaks for itself really :p Could also be teh chassis fans near it, so let us know how you get on :D

That's what I thought, too, Sleinous, having paid the extra for an "Ultra Quiet" PSU!
I'll have a look/listen again tonight, try the Q fan control advice and see what happens.

And thanks again for all the super-fast advice everyone!

That's definitely helped, guys, both on boot up and generally - it still roars when it's busy (i.e., converting video) but at idle it's fine.
I left the PC running last night and the wife didn't complain once about the noise! :)
