Hi,
I was looking at a new laptop for photo editing, programming and web development, video editing, 3D modelling and rendering software and also to look at photos and videos with the occasional 3D gaming in spare time. So a multi use "quite fast" machine is required.
The main requirements of all of the above uses is:
- good colour representation and black to white contrast for photo and video work and viewing.
- anti glare due to often long work sessions in front of the laptop
- a good viewing angles for occasional presentations from the laptops screen.
Hence the choice of a matte screen.
However there seem to be 3 types of screen available from PS and on speaking to them and doing some research on the web, I can't seem to work out which screen most suitable.
PS have stated that the IPS may be a better choice than the AUO as the AUO may need calibrating and as they do not provide the calibrating software (which may be obtained from Amazon). I don't mind calibrating the screen if the AUO is actually better after calibrating in terms of colour representation.
On further research on the net some say that the AUO has a slight sheen and that is perhaps why the colour representation is better but I am still not sure whether the AUO has better colour representation than IPS Panel.
Also, it seems that the IPS Panel has better viewing angles but again I am not sure whether this is better then the AUO or just better than a normal Matte screen.
I would appreciate your insights into the above to help me, and others, decide which Matte screen is more suitable but currently I am scratching my head between the lower cost Cosmos II with the IPS Panel and the Optimus V with the AUO 95% Gamut.
Advice from laptop owners with the above matte screen variations would obviously help.
Thank you.
