Octane 15 Upgradability

As the octane uses desktop CPU's then you could probably upgrade the CPU, though that is quite a costly thing to do, so much better off getting the one you need right off the bat.

In terms of laptop GPU's, they tend to be soldered directly onto the motherboard. While it is possible to upgrade them it is very rarely practical and it would (most probably) not be possible to upgrade to something of a different generation. Basically if you are thinking about buying a laptop you need to buy it with everything you need from day one, apart from things like RAM and HDD's which can be easily swapped and upgraded.

Hi,
Is it possible to upgrade the gpu or cpu of the Octane 15 laptop?
Ive noticed it's installed with desktop CPUs, which are usually removable. I'm wondering if this applies to the laptop as well.
Can someone confirm this?

Thanks

Yes it is, the current max cpu is a i7-4790k, (1150 cpu), and the max gpu is the gtx980m (mxm socket gpu). If in the future Nvidia bring out a faster gpu based on the mxm socket with the same component layout and power requirements, then in theory you will be able to upgrade. Only time will tell.
For owners of some previous model Clevo laptops with a mxm socket, they are already upgrading to this generation of 970m & 980m gpus.
