Hi all,

Am currently looking into getting myself an SSD, and i dont know a huge amount on the subject.

Is the OCZ 120GB Agility 3 SSD - AGT3-25SAT3-120G a decent buy, as i heard of certain models/makes of SSD's having large problems with crashing etc?

Another model for a similar price is the Corsair 120GB Force 3 SSD CSSD-F120GB3-B, any thoughts on which would be best?

Simon.

If you want reliability get a kingston or an Intel. Intels are the most reliable, kingstons are slightly faster and are still fairly reliable. I'd suggest getting one from pcs as their prices are good and they have the warranty and everything. What is your mobo? does it support SATA 6Gb/s? If so, get either a kingston hyperx or an intel 510.

I know many people who have had huge problems with OCZ SSD drives. IMO i prefer Kingston/Corsair SSD drives.

Crucial m4 ssd's are one of the best in terms or reliabilty, as well as intel ssd's.

I agree with xoil, I prefer them. I do like Mushkin drives but have never owned one! However, I strongly suggest that you get one from PCS so that you get all the warranty and everything.

I personally don't have much experience with SSDs but reviews of that drive say it's quite good. However i would recommend, if you can afford the extra £20 or so, getting an intel one, they are quick, reliable and they have good support (this is important), from what Ive heard about OCZ their support isn't amazing. I think the intel one would be more reliable by some way, which is important since there are lots of complaints from people with SSDs saying theyve gone wrong etc.

So basically steer clear of the OCZ one? And I have a 6Gb/s SATA capable MoBo. I will look into the Corsair one then.

I'd recommend a corsair Force GT, they are very good. However, I still think it would be better to get one from PCS as the ones they sell are reliable, also, as before, you get all the warranty and support.

Ok, but what difference is there between the Corsair 120GB Force 3 and the Force GT, other than about £40?

Read the guide I've posted, it will give a lot of info about ssd's and it's a buyers guide, written by someone who is very well educated about ssd's.

That is good value, especially for the force 3. I'd suggest getting the force 3 for that price, tbh, the performance difference is fairly minimal. For that price, I would get the force 3

I've had 2 ocz ssd's fail on me. lol

I'd get a 120gb intel 320/510 or a 120gb kingston hyper x, I'd get it from pcs, so ya covered under warranty, (i know ya would be anyway) But most companies probably wouldn'tbother to listen if something happened to the ssd.

Tautology much? :D

Isn't tautology when I say something different but it still means the same thing? Also, if you are going to be the English teacher, surely you don't use it in a sentence like that?

Anyway, back on topic, I agree with exactly what tom has just said :) !

Well, I believe that "I'd suggest getting the force 3" and "I would get the force 3" are quite similar! :p
