Old hard drive with old OS issue.

I have a new gaming desktop on the way with a new 120GB ssd with windows 10 pre-installed.

At home with me I have 3 hard drives I would like to add for storage purposes but one of them has windows 7 on it from my old desktop.

Is there a way I can format this hard-drive without any complications through my new desktop. I'm worried I will plug it in and it may cause issues with my shiny new toy.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

So long as you don't plug it in to the primary port, then it's version of windows won't load unless you specifically request it as the boot drive.

Once in windows on the new machine you can go to disk management and format the drive.
