Optimus Fails to turn on

Hey guys,

Wonder if anyone could be of assistance.

Just tried turning on my Optimus IV 17.5, without much luck. So I plugged in the AC thinking that was the problem, yet still not able to turn on.

No LED's on the laptop, but the green light is lit on the power supply.

Any suggestions before I send it back ?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

Tried that without such luck. Also left the battery out for 15mins and tried to power on, still nothing

Would really rather not RMA it, although it's looking that way ..

Have you tried powering it on with the battery out and only the mains power unit plugged in?

I have yeah, still nothing. When I look closely at the ac indicator led on the front end of the laptop, it is ever so slight lit .. but nothing substantial

I'm fearing the worst and that it's a motherboard failure - typical as I'm a week out of my 'Collect & Return' period ha.

I've not really ever witnessed any high temps or anything of that nature, that I would think would do something as kill the board - just came out of the blue this morning.

With me fearing the worst, does anyone know how much a new Optimus IV motherboard would cost by any chance? ... I hear laptop motherboards are quite expensive and in some cases are better off getting a new laptop altogether.

The only way to know is to call PCS I'm afraid.

Just a quick update -

So it was a motherboard failure - and although I've only had it a year and quite literally just over a week out of warranty, I had to fork out £300 for a new motherboard. However they did waiver the £35 collect & return cost as a good will gesture.

All in all a very unlucky customer. Merry Christmas lol
