After almost a year of research and umming and ahhing between at least 5 different computers I have just completed payment on a new Optimus II with the following spec :

After reading pages of information on this computer my only reservation about it is the enormous power brick which comes as standard. At home, where I will do all of my gaming I have no problem with leaving the laptop plugged into this beast, however I also purchased this laptop for work with its portability and comparative longer lasting battery in mind. The large size and weight of this power brick is a serious drawback to travelling.

Does anyone here have any experience of using an alternative for travel? I have been reading extensively on the Notebook Review Sager 5195 / Clevo W150HR forums, and the US Clevo reseller Mythlogic have thoroughly tested the CoolerMaster NSA 95 on their models with apparently no adverse effects to the computer whatsoever.

I notice that PC specialist also supply a 90W adapter. Would this be OK to use with the Optimus II? how much would it cost? Will its lead fit the Optimus? what would be the consequences of using a sub-wattage power supply?

I wont be gaming, or doing anything else particularly intensive whilst plugged in to this, just need to be able to use office, CS5 and lightroom whilst at work; in fact I'll disable the GT 555 and only be using integrated graphics.

Pretty much any 90W adapter will be sufficient for the GT540M model (120W for the GT 555M model) so providing that the adpater fits you can use any type of adapter you like :)

I have heard so much about this brick but never seem it. Could someone please post a pic of one, preferably next to something so that I can see the size? Plus rep for anyone who does!

Thanks for the replies. After some more research I've come up with this as an alternative - the coolermaster USNA 120, it's at least half the size of the supplied one and weighs just 300 grams. Doesn't come cheap though - £50
