Optimus III

Ideal for: Intensive use.

Could someone explain a little more what this means? Does it mean it won't heat up the same as other laptops?

I'm looking for a laptop which I'll be using for 4-5 hours at a time, on rendering and drawing programmes.

Would I be better to go for the Optimus III as opposed to the Genesis IV?

Intensive use means running applications that are either more CPU heavy or more GPU heavy, such as gaming, design or rendering.

since you are planning to render and draw programmes i would recommend the Optimus 3 as it has a much better GPU (graphics processing unit).

looks good, but personally I'd go for atleast 8gig of ram, its mega cheap at the moment so worth having that bit more.

If you have a good 300Mbps capable router, you could go for the better 300Mbps network card, to take advantage of the faster router. But this isnt needed, just an idea.

definitely spring for the 8GB ram option, its not much extra and its good to have for CS/Photoshop/whatever.

if you have the budget, you might want a secondary drive to store your files on, and keep the SSD as a primary boot drive. you might fill the SSD quite quickly if you have a large music collection (my iTunes is 70GB) or other folders. then you can keep your SSD free for using rendering software and stroing frequently accessed files/projects.

Aye, it may be worth looking at.

My only issue is money, I was planning on nothing more than £700, and this appears to be surpassing £800!

I noticed you have purchased one, so how does it cope with 4/5 hours of, for example, gaming?

I need mine for drawing and rendering, so if it can cope with such games, it should cope with rendering and drawing.

I'll be buying a portable HD for all my other files, they cost around £50, and I'll further back it up on my old laptop. Cheers! :)

My issue there is the price haha! I was hoping it wouldn't cost me much more than £700 originally, so they would be out of the question.

The current specs I'm looking at are around £800, so may have to settle with them! haha

How about this? For the scary and mad price of £836... My bank balance is not gonna be a happy chappy!
