Optimus IV 17" Battery Issue

Hey guys,

So im having this problem with my Optimus IV 17" Battery, what happens is that everytime my laptops battery is low i plug it in to charge it, obviously, however the battery meter doesnt change and stays at zero for very long almost an hour and then suddenly it changes and the battery is fully charged.

Also if you remove the charger and plug it back in like after half an hour it will become 60%,depending on the time it was left to charge while it said zero %.

So the laptop battery is charging but it wont show this in the battery meter.

Is this a bios problem or a battery problem and how can i fix it?

Thanks

The Windows battery meter is really not all that accurate so I wouldn't pay too much attention to it. The key factor is whether your battery is being fully charged and whether it holds it's charge under normal use.

There is some useful information about the battery meter from the Microsoft website that may help you. Note the advice about not fully discharging and recharging modern Li-ion batteries.

There is also some good advice about calibrating the battery meter on the Hewlett-Packard site which, although aimed at HP users applies equally to any laptop running Windows.

Ive actually realised something. It only doesnt charge when the battery gets really hot while gaming. when the battery is cold everything is fine. i think the heat transfers from my secondary hdd which gets reasonably hot and in turn heats the battery up.

Thanks again for all your answers i tried them out unfortunately they didnt apply to my situation.
