Hi, I've had my Optimus IV for over 2 years now and I've recently been doing some research on the vast number of M.2 PCIe variants (there are at least 4 different types and sizes that I know of) and wanted to install one in my laptop specifically 256gb 2242 M.2 PCIe x4
Having looked at the mobo specs there SHOULD be a M.2 socket free.
I work with a lot of HP notebooks and machines from 6 years ago have a free 2242 port (intended for use with 3G/LTE cards)
Having prised up my keyboard for only the 2nd time (the first time was to install another 4GB RAM) I discovered that the M.2 port is MISSING from my MOBO
Look at this pic from notebook check
My mobo doesn't have the connector despite having room and what looks like 2 holes where I assume screws go to hold the connector in place.
Can this connector be retro fitted onto my mobo? Would soldering be required as it looks like I can just install the connector and the circuit would be made by the pins making contact with the mobo. Appreciate your answers.
