Depends on the games you play, the settings you play them at / whether you just put things to "ultra" without any fine tuning, and what sort of framerate you feel is high enough
Overwatch, no worries. Kingdom Come Deliverance or DEMD on Ultra, not so much (since they have some very demanding / poorly optimised settings).
Basically, if the Optimus IV can play stuff at 1080 I'm good. If games drop below 144hz and it doesn't look crap on a 144hz monitor then I'm also good.
I currently have Fortnite at 30fps on my ancient 660 and it runs fine on a 60hz monitor.
If only the Defiance didn't cook my skin, that thing was nice when I wasn't melting.
I can't speak from personal experience, but a lot of people play games on a GTX 1060 and a non-gsync 144hz monitor, so I assume it must look alright to most people
I'd still recommend a desktop and monitor if that's viable, since you'll actually be able to upgrade the GPU.
Both the 15" and 17" Optimus IX claim g sync displays in the features, so they really ought to remove that if they don't? (I had noticed that they don't explicitly list g sync in the configurator for the displays, which they do for some other models.)
You're right. I never look at the features page, so hadn't noticed they said the display was gsync there. But it does indeed.
While the GPU presumably supports gsync on external monitors, that's not what this says. I'll drop PCS a note about this.
As posted on NBR, a French supplier are offering this laptop with a quieter keyboard - [Link removed - competitor links are not allowed I'm afraid] - whether or not PCS will be doing this too is yet to be seen, though I've emailed them asking about it. Will report back when they respond.
