I have an Optimus V 15.6" (W355SSQ) with 120GB Kingston SSD and 1GB Hitachi HDD (HGST HTS541010A9E680)
When the HDD is stressed (defragmentation, large copy, etc) it gets quite hot: showing 54 degrees now during a defrag, and it went to 59 the other day during a big copy. I don't know if it was always that way, I only recently noticed. This seems to be well above temperatures recommended at various web pages. Is this normal, and is it a cause for concern?
The computer is in the shade in a reasonably cool room, with the back slightly lifted to allow ventilation; but not on a laptop cooling tray or similar. Other temperatures are showing as fine.
