Think I'm going to pull the trigger tonight on the Optimus V 17 incher from the review section @ £879.

Can't see any similarly priced laptop touching it in terms of spec. Would quite like the option of dropping Windows 8 and spending the money on RAM or CPU upgrade, but you win some, you lose some!

Will be using it primarily for light gaming and media consumption.

Any last minute words of advice?

You could build your own in the configurator for even less, depending on what you need.

Either way I think you are right, no one is as affordable.

Ended up going for a similar model, but with upgraded CPU (4800MQ @ 2.7GHz) and my choice do SSD / HD.

Think the review model was still quite a bit cheaper, but think it was worth it to get the better CPU and drives.

I have owned an Optimus V X17, from the review section, for a few months now. I can say that I don't feel the CPU is underpowered at all. It pulls very nicely. The only thing holding the rig back in terms of performance, would be the GTX 765M, which isn't by any means lagging behind and is capable of decent gaming performance.

I hope you enjoy your machine though, and hope it gets built quicker than mine did, without the transitioning and stock issues.

How long did yours take to arrive?

The more I read the forum the more I think I would have been better getting a MacBook Pro like the GF just got...

It just seems there's a fairly good chance something will go wrong, and I'm not convinced the casing is high quality.

I originally wanted a Gigabyte Ultrablade or similar.

Plus the current Macbook Pro line looks completely awesome.

Why consider a clevo chassis then? Just buy the MacBook pro. I don't think you will get a MacBook pro with the GTX 765m and probably pay double the price of an optimus. I agree the design is very good but it seems overpriced.
