I ordered an Optimus 13.3" laptop (also known as a clevo w230sd) and received it 2 weeks later.

So far it has exceeded expectations. The 960m gpu and i7 4910mq (highest cpu configuration) performs marvellously for my games. My research told me to expect 20-30 FPS in Arma 3, but ended up with 40-60fps on ULTRA preset with v-sync on. I never expected so much power from a mid level gpu.

The chassis itself looks far better than the photos in configuration, being more silver than grey. It makes it seem more premium and it feels good to the touch.

I never realised a matte screen could look this good. I always thought it dulled the colours and ruined the image quality. It's very sharp and colourful, maybe because its IPS

I was worried about the cpu temperature, as various reviews said it plagued performance.
The cpu temp will reach over 95C and the computer will thermal throttle. However, when this happens I dont notice any significant drops in performance. Arma 3 remains at a solid 40fps. Furthermore, as long as the laptop has sufficient airspace underneath, temperatures rarely go above 90. Moreover the moment the laptop stops an intensive application, temperatures plummet back to 40C, which means the fans are efficiently dissipating the heat. I have nothing to worry about.

As well as gaming, I use the laptop to simulate models in matlabs. Since my previous laptop, loading times have been eliminated and running models now has minimal lag.

I did have an issue with using headphones, as sound did not automatically transfer. But this was fixed by reinstalling the sound drivers, which PCS promised were installed.

Overall, extremely happy with the laptop and its performance. Great build, great sceen etc etc. Temperatures do get high, but I have nothing to worry about.

(Laptop photos, last one is a size comparison between 13.3" & 15.6")

Hi Renz

Many thanks for this. I am looking at purchasing the optimus vi as well - however there were no reviews until now. Can you let me know what the fan noise is like? Also, does the chasis heat up alot - i.e. can you hold on your kness if on train?

The fan will breeze up occasionally with casual use (ie. browsing the internet and videos). When its not doing anything, the fan is dead silent. However I have never found it an annoyance. If your worried about other people hearing, I believe background noise can easily drown out the fan. But under intensive applications such as Arma 3, it will start blowing hard.

Personally I never use laptops on my lap as I find any kind of heat uncomfortable. I did test it on my lap for a few minutes, and underneath gets warm but manageable. However your legs blocks the air holes
