Optimus VII 15.6 - problems coming out of Sleep.

Hi. Got my new laptop yesterday. I installed my own OS - Windows 10 - from disk and the drivers from the download page. Everything is OK except form the laptop coming out of sleep.

If I close the lid when the laptop is on and then open the screen flashes intermittently for about a minute then goes blank - pressing power button during this does nothing. At the end of the flashing the screen goes blank and then when I press the power button the sign on screen appears.

Odd behaviour! Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

If you Google Windows 10 and sleep you'll find that it's a pretty common problem across all brands of laptop.

The best solution IMO is to get an SSD and forget about sleep altogether. My Optimus IV cold boots (i.e. with hibernation off) in around 20 seconds. That's from pressing the power switch to a working desktop. Who needs sleep?

My Optimus 17" had the same problem but worse, I had to force shut down with power button then restart. I kept getting rainbow matrix lines on screen after coming out of sleep mode.

My solution - simply download official nvidia graphics driver from nvida. No I don't get any problems coming out of sleep mode. I'm not at my laptop, but if I recall correctly driver version was .358.50 I think. Just let nvidia find your driver for u

Thanks. I originally had an SSD in my spec but changed to save money! Did a Google. I went back and ensured all drivers\windows updates were up to date. W10 did a number of updates and the problem seems to have gone away!

Just loaded GPU-Z. Laptop when out of sleep was 38C. Left it idling for 10 minutes and it has crept up to 67C.

Yep, as I suspected. This gpu runs hot. Don't think its driver issue.

Can anyone more experienced comment Pls?
