Do you think it will be OK with constant use? like sometimes 10 hours+ a day?

No overheating issues I hope.

xD

Dual dual GPU 690s.

xD

Me gusta, though is there a particular reason for the i7-3930K? I know it's a 6-core, 12 threaded CPU, but it's also Sandy Bridge. An i7-3770K would OC better and generally performs the same in games, without bottlenecking your SLI setup.

Well I am only going to OC to 4.6GHz ( well PCS are ) but I wont go beyond that.

I am concerned about keeping the heat down as I will be using it a lot.

Also do you think the i7-3930k OC will bottleneck my SLi setup? therefore better to just get a single 690?

Hmm, a "factory" overclock you say? Then that changes things, if you're not going to be personally involved.

An i7-3770K can be pushed to very naughty limits... using very naughty techniques, but it does involve
risk, which I'm not advising anyone to take.

Nope, should be fine. I think benchmarks were posted all over the place, showing good scaling at VERY high resolutions. Here's a great review with SLI GTX 690s & i7-3960X with the CPU stock at 3.3 GHz - http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/graphics/display/geforce-gtx-690-sli.html

One last amendment I would make to your setup is to swap the Kingston 3K SSD with a 520 Intel one.

So will the i7-3930k to 4.6GHz be OK?

And I will change the SSD, still not sure whether to SLi or not, and if I SLi would it cause heat issues or anything?

You should not have any heat issues in the Cosmos II the case is big enough to provide good airflow to all components and you can add a plethora of fans to help keep the heat down if you like.

Well, I don't have one, but here's a someone who has it, http://www.overclock.net/t/1294941/i7-3930k-oc-4-1ghz-vcore

Quote, "Mine does 4.5 @ 1.296v If you can hit that you got a pretty good chip."

An Ivy i7-3770K would OC to 4.5-6 with a lower voltage required.

still not sure whether to SLi or not

SLI it, Kepler is a great architecture to build on: 28 nm manufacturing process, hardware-designed power efficiency, software improvements like Adaptive VSync, hardware tessellation, FXAA, PhysX, CUDA, many more features.

and if I SLi would it cause heat issues or anything?

No, in fact a SLI GTX 690 config is about the most coolest multi-GPU/card setup you could have, refer to - http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/gpu_displays/evga_gtx690_review_including_quad_sli/3

Almost no increase in temperature with the second GTX 690 sitting on the same motherboard.

Batman looks like it's CPU-bound,

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/graphics/display/geforce-gtx-690-sli_6.html#sect0
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/graphics/display/geforce-gtx-690-sli_5.html#sect4

In Battlefield 3, second GTX 690 scales to 64%, Crysis 2 - 50%, Aliens vs. Predator - 69%, Shogun 2: Total War - 57%, Metro 2033 - 90%.

Five years from now, he'll upgrade his motherboard and CPU and will push the setup even further after all of the console CPU-bound ports disappear from the PC gaming market.

The review in Hexus is for 5760x1080 resolution. I think for a surround set up you may want to consider a SLI GTX 680 4gb and upgrade it once the next generation of GPUs are available.

I really appreciate all the help, it looks like I will be getting SLi and the 3930k OC to 4.6GHz, I might get another monitor too although I will have to find room for it all.

Thanks for the help again, seems SLi is better at higher resolutions so I will be getting SLi, just thinking whether I have missed anything.
