Overheating 12900k? Thermal Grizzly have a solution

So we should by now be aware of the problems with the 12900k IHS bending to the point it no longer makes full contact with the heatsink and leads to thermal issues.

Buildzoid went full depth into the issue and was the first to recommend shims as a solution.

Thermal Grizzly have now released a plate that fits in the socket and improves things further, longer term.

If you have one, I would entirely recommend checking these out

Ive not seen this, is it basically the chip runs so hot it warps itself?
So unless a good cooling option from the start, it will warp and have even more thermal issues?

It's the socket holder paired with a weak IHS leads to it bending to the point it's no longer flat so can't make proper contact with the heatsink.

Intel in their infinite scummery literally said it was normal and expected.

So we have the first benchmarks coming in for the 5800x3D. As we know, this is the same chip as the 5800x just downclocked and then with ludicrous amounts of Level 3 Cache bolted on. The benefits here really specifically apply to gaming, it's not an across the board improvement, games...

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they end up facing quite a few class action lawsuits over this.

You are of course correct, they absolutely should do a recall, or offer these brackets for free to anyone that bought one.

Just doing nothing is quite frankly criminal.

pretty much sums intel up having to install body armour for it not to burn your house down.
